Full loop in one day

Plan 10–12 hours including lunch and a reserve. Traffic and visits affect timing; this is a summer format with an early start.

  1. Day 1

Sampo → Martsialnye Vody → Girvas → Kivach

Start in the morning; Sampo and the museum before lunch, Girvas and Kivach afterwards. Return to Petrozavodsk.

If behind schedule at lunch, drop Girvas and preserve time at Kivach. Avoid arriving at closing; confirm Nature Museum hours and any guided visit in advance.

Two relaxed outings

Both days start and end in Petrozavodsk. Extra driving leaves more time for unhurried walks and museum visits.

  1. Day 1

Sampo and the history of Martsialnye Vody

Two main visits and lunch; return in daylight where conditions allow.

Choose Tuesday–Sunday for the museum. Allow 2–3 hours for visits in total, with separate driving and lunch allowances.

  2. Day 2

    Girvas and Kivach

Start with the geological stop, then leave 1.5–2 hours for Kivach.

On short winter days make Kivach the main destination and shorten Girvas if needed. The visitor area does not grant unrestricted access to the reserve.

Driving and season

Allow 3.5–4.5 hours for driving alone, excluding visits, queues and lunch. Check road conditions for your date.

The full loop needs a long daylight window. In late autumn and winter use two days or fewer stops.
