Sortavala is convenient for the Ladoga region and Ruskeala; Petrozavodsk - for the capital, Kivach and trips to Kizhi. Compare not only the train arrival time, but also the possibility of getting on the next excursion and returning to the hotel. The train ticket and local transfer are separate parts of the trip.
Trains and car
In the Russian Railways schedule, check the station, date and train number. The retro train to Ruskeala is a separate section of the route. When driving a car, reserve for stops, gas stations and the condition of the last entrance. Driving times in the atlas routes are a guideline for planning, not a promise.
Water and seasonality
Water trips to Kizhi and Valaam depend on the season and weather. Before paying the carrier, find out the composition of the program, cancellation conditions and time of stay on the island. Don't make an important train connection immediately after returning from the island. For winter access, please check with the museum or organizer separately.
