Preparing for the trip: things, children and accessibility
A practical list before traveling to Karelia.
Clothing and communications
Bring layers of clothing, rain protection, shoes with stable soles, and extra power for your phone. Save the necessary contacts and a map of the available route in advance. Outside the city, you should not expect that the mobile network will work the same everywhere.
Children and accessibility
Specify not the general answer “it’s possible with children,” but the surface of the paths, steps, access to toilets, the duration of the journey and the age conditions of the specific program. If mobility is limited, contact the site in advance: rocky terrain, boat ramps, and historic structures may require different assistance.
Last check
The day before, check the forecast, the carrier's message, the regime of the facility and documents for visiting the protected area. For a boat trip, prepare a backup program on shore. When driving a car, check the fuel, time reserve and winter equipment for the season. Do not go out on the ice or go beyond the fences for the sake of photography.
